About this role This exciting internship opportunity has arisen within the Philanthropy Team, which raises money from UK based high-net-worth individuals. The Tiffany Circle is a giving circle originally founded by the American Red Cross in 2007 as a network of women leaders. It has since grown to include nearly 1,000 members across the US and raised more than $44 million towards our life-saving work. Building on the success in America, the British Red Cross launched a Tiffany Circle here in the UK, in 2012. Through this role, the intern will gain valuable writing skills and database management practice. There may also be the opportunity to assist with the organisation of events. They will be treated as a full member of the Philanthropy team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist with writing tasks including contributing to the weekly Tiffany Newsfeed, drafting pre-event briefing documents, writing letters and reports and updating the Tiffany Circle website. Using various research tools and rich lists the intern will help fundraisers identify and develop strong relationships with potential major donors and expand the team's portfolio of supporters. The intern might assist with organising events including researching locales, preparing pre-event materials, assisting at events, and post-event follow-up tasks. This role would suit someone who is highly organised and interested in writing, fundraising, administration and events management. Applicants should note that events run outside of normal office hours. The successful candidate will gain valuable writing, database and fundraising skills, developed from working within the Philanthropy Team and leading on his or her own project areas. The intern will also have the opportunity to attend training events and receive on the job training. British Red Cross training will include courses such as: 'Everyday First Aid', 'Welcome Workshop,' 'Fundraising Induction', 'International Humanitarian Law' and other optional classes. This internship offers a fantastic opportunity for someone with little to no previous fundraising experience or who wishes to develop their existing skills further.
The Successful Applicant
You need to have good interpersonal, diplomacy, communication and teamwork skills. Full training can be given for any technical requirements. We keep the beneficiary at the heart of what we do, working to understand their needs and the difference we make. We are also looking for someone who has the following: Demonstrable interest in fundraising, research and events; Organisational skills; Computer literacy; Numerical and analytical skills; Competence with Microsoft excel; Flexibility and the ability to prioritise workload; Fluent written & spoken English; Resident in the UK or planning to be before the British Red Cross can consider an application.
