Our apprenticeship programme follows the Fork Lift Truck Industry Standards and provides you with the opportunity to work towards a formal qualificationas a Forklift Truck Maintenance Engineer. The programme runs for 4-years with on and off the job training. Year’s 1 to 3 will gain a Level 2 & Level 3 Apprenticeship in Lift Truck Maintenance and Repair. Year 4 is a transition year where individuals demonstrate all of their acquired knowledge in engineering. All our apprentices have an Apprentice Development Officer who is there to support individuals overall development and a mentor who will guide you through your apprenticeship programme on a day to day basis. Our programme produces the best apprentices in our industry and this is recognised by the Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA).
The Role We are looking for the new generation of engineers to start their career in our award-winning programme and help us maintain and repair our extensive range of lift trucks and materials handling equipment. Successful applicants will give be given full support throughout the programme. You will need to have a passion for all things engineering, be keen to learn and be motivated to achieve success. In return, you will be provided with a work laptop, corporate work wear, personal protective equipment (PPE), your own toolbox and tools and a rewarding career. An Apprentice Development Officer will support your overall development and a mentor will guide you through your apprenticeship programme on a day to day basis. To become a fully competent engineer you will need to complete all your learning and workshop practice. There are several learning milestones that you must attain in addition to adhering to our company standards
The Successful Applicant
Your duties and responsibilities will include: • Attend all training courses • Observe and comply with all policies and procedures including health and safety at work • Deliver high levels of customer service. • Meet the personal and professional standards of the company and conduct yourself in accordance with the Linde apprentice programme behavioural guidelines. • Complete tasks in the workshop and take responsibility for being involved in its day to day running alongside the workplace mentors to complete your Vocational Competency Qualification (VCQ) • Pass all online and written assignments • Work closely with the F-TEC assessor and F-TEC team to achieve your qualifications • Work at becoming competent at carrying out regular servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs on all trucks to a high standard • Undertake any other duties that may be required • Regularly demonstrate company values of Integrity, Courage, Excellence & Collaboration. Desired Skills You will need to be interested in all things mechanical. Experience is advantageous however not essential. It is important that candidates who apply are motivated, interested, hardworking and reliable. Qualifications required Applicants must have Maths and English GCSE'S Grade 9-5 or ( A – C ) or equivalent .
What's on Offer
The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour as of April 2019. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
