Volunteering within the Community Fundraising team you will play a key role in helping to fundraise in support of the work of the British Red Cross both within the UK and internationally. You will have your own projects to work on and, will assist with emergency appeals, if launched, in response to a major disaster somewhere in the world. Based in our Manchester office you will volunteer on events and projects to support Greater Manchester and Lancashire areas. Your projects could include organising a number of collections or developing a fundraising opportunity, as well as supporting the team with their portfolio of events and activities. The internship will provide an opportunity to develop core fundraising and volunteer management skills through hands on fundraising and events experience. You will be a valued member of the Community Fundraising Team with access to our in-house training programme, giving you an overview of the history and current reach of the largest international humanitarian organisation in the world and the opportunity to learn skills such as first aid and managing contacts on our database. You will also receive role specific training and gain an insight into the various events and supporter activities we run across the region.
The Successful Applicant
You need to have good interpersonal, diplomacy, communication and teamwork skills although full training can be given for any technical requirements. We keep the beneficiary at the heart of what we do, working to understand their needs and the difference we make. Also someone who is/has: Demonstrable interest in fundraising; Fluent written and spoken English; Experience of writing effectively and concisely; A good telephone manner; Strong people skills and the ability to get on with a wide range of different people; Good at coping when busy; Computer literate with experience of using Word and Excel; Analytical skills
