Our apprenticeship programme follows the Fork Lift Truck Industry Standards and provides you with the opportunity to work towards a formal qualificationas a Forklift Truck Maintenance Engineer. The programme runs for 4-years with on and off the job training. Year’s 1 to 3 will gain a Level 2 & Level 3 Apprenticeship in Lift Truck Maintenance and Repair. Year 4 is a transition year where individuals demonstrate all of their acquired knowledge in engineering.
All our apprentices have an Apprentice Development Officer who is there to support individuals overall development and a mentor who will guide you through your apprenticeship programme on a day to day basis. Our programme produces the best apprentices in our industry and this is recognised by the Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA).
Job Description
During the three year programme, you will actively participate in everything from sales to marketing and customer service to operations and finance. Along the way, we’ll give you plenty of opportunity to show your skills, and we’ll reward your development with pay increases and opportunities for continued development.
As you progress, we will work with you to decide where your skills are best suited and then define the best route for exit from the programme and into your onward career path within not only Linde MH UK but also the wider KION Group.
Responsibilities
As a Commercial Apprentice, you will take on 4 rotations across the business in the space of three years. This will consist of one full year rotation, two of 9 months and one of 6 months. If you are based in Basingstoke, one of these rotations will see you embedded full time in a Network company elsewhere in the UK, and vice versa for those within the Network companies who will spend time in Basingstoke. You will learn how to deliver exceptional customer service, this is the core of what we do.
We will teach you how to effectively communicate, influence, and interact with all types of customers, vendors, and colleagues. You’ll learn proper sales techniques, problem solving strategies and conflict management. Those skills will provide you with the opportunity to build solid, long lasting relationships with key business decision makers.

Qualifications
Ideally, 'A’ levels in English and/or Maths are required (SQA Highers as an equivalent in Scotland). A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; however, professional experience can be substituted if applicable.
You must have a full driving license, but we do make accommodations for applicants who don’t drive due to a disability.

What's on Offer
The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour as of April 2019. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
