We at The House Surgery are a small and friendly team of passionate Interior Designers. The company has been running since 2003 and is lead by Emma Sturgess-Lief. We offer a complete interior design service and help our clients with all aspects of their design projects, both large and small. We listen carefully to their ideas and wishes so we can fully grasp and understand their objectives. Through images and discussion we visualise the styles and ambiance they are hoping to achieve and with meticulous planning, we work as a team to bring their dreams and aspirations into reality. We specialise in Mid to High-End Residential Interior Design and Show Home Design and help lots of happy clients every year benefit from beautiful new home spaces or to sell their homes and development properties quickly and for maximum profit. We have a large bright studio that we love to work in, with a very big library of fabrics, wallpapers, and furniture, so lots to select and choose from. We also have a large warehouse downstairs that holds all of the furniture and accessories that we hire out for show homes. We hold appointments with clients both within our studio, and on-site at their homes or development sites. Our working days are varied from, client visits, office design work, show home fitting and removals, to office admin work, which makes life more interesting.

We are a small company so our internships teach you lots of different aspects of the world of interior design, practical, client facing and behind the scenes admin and preparation, as well as styling and dressing show homes. You will have a hands-on role to play and be a part of real design projects and show home projects. Some of our interns have gone on the be offered jobs after their internships have ended if available and we feel they have shown exceptional skill and work ethic. Of course, regardless of whether a job offer is made or not, you will receive a reference at the end of your term and we will help you with images of projects that you were a part of for your design portfolio. Whilst our internships are unpaid positions we do pay for your travel and lunch, this will be paid to you at the end of each month. We offer 4 - 6-month internships periodically
Graduate Interior Designer, 4 Month Internship Offered – with the possibility of a permanent position at the end for the right hard working and career minded candidate. We are offering a 4-month internship for a dynamic well-groomed career minded and ambitious graduate Interior Designer to work with us in our Interior Design & Show Home Design Company in Surrey. Travel costs and lunch will be provided for a a basic remuneration to cover these expenses for the full internship term. The company has been trading for 15 years, since July 2003. We have a large light and airy office and warehouse in Surrey. The closest station is Hersham over ground mainline, so you will need to be able to travel here easily or have your own car. Parking is free in our car park. Training will be provided, and you will work alongside the director and small team learning lots about the industry, and be given real work to do; hence a competent, career minded and responsible person is required for this position. We are hoping to hire a new and exceptional team member, so a permanent position may be offered to the right person at the end of this term if they can prove their competence, initiative, and skills whilst on this placement. Applicants should have excellent organizational skills, good clear communication skills, a great memory, and a friendly and professional telephone manner and be willing to learn and do new things. Excellent written English and literacy skills are essential. Applicants should be experienced and competent in Word, Excel, Outlook, Photoshop, and CAD design software such as AutoCAD and 3D Sketch-up. Rendering software will be a bonus. You will play a part in picking out furniture and finishes for projects, creating mood boards and presentations to present to clients, so your design skills will be coming into play daily. You will also be client facing and accompany us on-site visits to client’s homes, hence be fully involved in the design process and learn lots. Daily duties will include but are not limited to; organising diary’s, booking consultations, Creating floor plans and furniture layouts, ordering furniture and materials, speaking with clients and suppliers, helping with general admin work, helping with the dressing and styling of show homes, attending client consultations, taking measurements and notes on site. Each day will be different, which makes for an interesting and varied role. We are looking for a hard-working, dedicated and loyal person. They should be well organised with excellent literacy skills, confident, smart in appearance, outgoing and personable, able to work under pressure, use their own initiative. The Successful Applicant
You must have a bachelors degree or higher in Interior Design or be studying Interior Design at degree level and have successfully completed at least 2 years.
